A Bit About Me
I have lived in Lincoln for over 7 years now and grew up down the road in Grantham, often visiting Lincoln at weekends. I am passionate about bettering the lives of people regardless of their background or situation, I therefore pursued a career in teaching. For these reasons I am excited by the prospect of representing yourselves and your voices on the City Council and as such I am standing in the Election on May 6th 2021 for Witham Ward.
This has been a significant struggle for all of us regardless of our backgrounds. Over the past year we have seen sacrifices made by all of the key workers in all manner of occupations and I want to personally thank you for all the hard work you have done to keep Lincoln safe.
It’s clear that we, as a city, are going to face many more struggles as we tackle the far-reaching impacts of COVID-19. I therefore want to represent your voices on the City Council to ensure that your opinions are heard and prioritised. I will ensure that I am available both in person and virtually to hear your voices and concerns in order to represent you in the decisions made by the City Council.
Representing the People of Witham Ward
Everyone should feel safe in the community that they live in and I recognise that you have concerns about some areas of the Witham Ward, particularly with regards to street lighting. I also understand that you have concerns about refuse collection and the upkeep of your community’s green spaces. These are just two areas that I will fight for on your behalf.
I want to ensure that you have a connection to City Council and that you know your voices will truly be represented. I will ensure that you have the opportunity to communicate your opinions and issues with me at any time with the knowledge that I will work hard for the Witham community.
Cuts and City Funding
In the last 10 years, councils like Lincoln have had their budgets slashed by up to 60%, the impact of the Tory austerity project that we have, unfortunately, become accustomed to. Despite this, the Labour controlled City Council has continued to provide quality social housing, invested in local parks and greenspaces for us to enjoy, continues providing regular public transport across the city and created numerous jobs by attracting businesses into the city. This has been fantastic.
Labours’ record of success, against the odds, has just seen Lincoln crowned the best place in the UK to raise a family!
I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to take your ideas for the future of our city to Council and work with you to find ways that we can continue improving Lincoln post COVID-19 and beyond. Funding is incredibly tight, that is why it is important to work together in order to prioritise projects and concerns to continue our city’s development.
In closing, I will always listen to you, your opinions and concerns in order to give you a voice. I will be clear and honest with you about the challenges that Lincoln faces. I offer the opportunity to help all in the continuing development of our city and I would welcome the opportunity to represent you.
