The local elections are your chance to improve the quality of jobs across Lincolnshire by voting Labour. The party was formed in 1900 with the goal of uniting the voices of working people and it remains true to this cause. As we seek to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, it will be a focus on well paid, good quality jobs that will be essential to the future prosperity of our County and our people.
Let’s Make Positive Changes
Labour stands against zero-hour contracts that have attacked the basic rights of workers and have contributed to the rise of in-work poverty. Research by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation found that 1 in 8 workers now lives in poverty and Lincolnshire’s rural communities suffer in particular.
The Tories have done little to tackle increasing levels of poverty during their time in charge of the County Council. Presently they sit on millions of pounds of unallocated funding that could be put to good use. Labour has put forward a fully costed alternative budget every year that could have alleviated many of the problems facing Lincolnshire’s poorest residents.
What is Labour Offering?
We would seek to deliver more training opportunities throughout the County and look at ways of introducing transport subsidies to make it easier for young people to use public transport and accept jobs further afield. These sorts of practical initiatives have never been a part of the Conservative agenda at County Offices.
Creating Green Jobs
A Labour County Council will support the creation of quality jobs as we collectively work towards achieving our ambitious carbon neutral targets. By voting Labour you will help toward bringing investment in training opportunities that lead to well paid practical jobs working with sustainable technology, as well as jobs that research how we can address the every growing problem of climate change.
To make a real difference to Lincolnshire and create a better, fairer future, vote Labour on May 6th.
