A bit about me
Having lived in Lincolnshire all my life I am passionate about its success and furthering the quality of life for its residents, no matter their background or financial position. For this reason I’m excited at the prospect of having an input on the decisions made by The County Council and as such I’m standing in the County Council Election on May 6th 2021.
I’ve lived in the Hartsholme/Moorland area since marrying my husband Geoff in 1986. I have two grown up daughters Adrianna & Eloise who were educated locally, and a granddaughter, Ava, who attends Hartsholme academy.
Last year I made a decision to take early retirement, giving me time to return to politics and represent people properly. Taking on the responsibility for important local decisions is not new to me having been a Lincoln City Councillor previously for 12 years and Mayor of the City from 2005-2006, during which time I’m proud to say I raised the most money for Charity in a Mayoral year.
Covid & Its Impact
We have all had to adapt to a new way of living, but with further hardships to come as Lincolnshire starts to recover I want to represent you on the County Council so the residents of Hartsholme are not forgotten.
By living in the Division I experience the same issues you do; the transport problems, poor state of the roads, streetlights turned off in many areas at night, the lack of school resources to educate our children, the underfunded welfare of our elderly care. The list goes on and on, but it does not have to be like this. Did you know there are millions of pounds of unallocated funding sat in Tory County Council bank accounts. We can make things better!
The Labour members on the County Council have worked hard to hold the Tories to account in the last 4 years, putting forward credible, affordable alternative budgets that can make a difference to people in Hartsholme. Every year it is rejected outright and more unused money is added to the pile instead of roads being fixed or resources purchased for schools. Enough is enough.
Looking To A Fairer Future
As the economy recovers we need to use money wisely, spend on the things that make a real difference and utilise assets within the County to ensure City residents don’t become 2nd class citizens, forgotten in the allocation of scarce funds. We need to ensure Recycling, Libraries, Leisure facilities and our heritage are protected. These are all things currently at risk from Tory proposals on the County Council.
Lets build a greener future
We have all come to understand the importance of our outdoor public recreational facilities and consideration needs to be given to our environment. Labour wants to prioritise a Green economic recovery and believes that with careful planning we will not only maintain things like our successful recycling facilities, we will go further and expand green initiatives for the benefit of our own area and the wider County.
In closing, I will never promise something I can’t deliver and this was my approach during 12 years on the City Council. I will listen to you and encourage your participation to ensure you have a voice.
A vote for Adelle Ellis on May 6th is a vote for a fairer future and a candidate who truly understands the needs of Hartsholme.
