Lincoln Labour Party For The Many Not The Few
Ermine & Cathedral

A BIT ABOUT ME
I was born, educated and have lived in Lincoln all of my life. I’ve been MP for the City, Mayor in 2012 and a local Councillor for 14 years. I have the range of experience, knowledge and skills to be a great representative for every resident in Ermine and Cathedral, whichever bit of the division they live in. I am passionate about wanting the best for every resident regardless of their age, background, or income. As a resident of Ermine and Cathedral your concerns are my concerns too.
WHY VOTE FOR ME?
As well as experience of representing my local community I have a proud reputation for commitment, hard work and achievement; the campaign to keep the Red Arrows in Lincolnshire, the extra train services from Lincoln to London and the establishment of Lincoln’s Medical School were all successful campaigns I was part of as Lincoln’s MP.
My Priorities as your County Councillor would include:
- Ensuring the basics like repairing dangerous potholes, footpaths and street lighting are dealt with more quickly
- Ensuring that road safety concerns such as parking and speed limits near local schools are highlighted, answers are given and action is taken.
- Ensuring that the protection and preservation of our local environment and our local green spaces is at the top of the agenda.
- Ensuring that post-covid local businesses and people get the right kind and amount of support they need.
THE IMPACT OF COVID AND BEYOND
When the pandemic hit last March I returned to nursing. It has been a challenging year but like other keyworkers (be they NHS or Care workers, shopworkers, taxi/bus drivers or postal workers to name but a few) I am proud that we kept our country running. It is only thanks to the hard work of NHS staff, military personnel and volunteers that the rollout of vaccines has been such a success.
We are going to face some real challenges in the next few years and months as a community. Our economy and jobs have been hit hard and many local businesses will struggle; some have been excluded from any financial help. Our children’s education has fallen behind and those with special needs have been hit especially hard. Our NHS has fought a heroic battle but now has staff who are exhausted. People who need care for cancer, diabetes and those waiting for routine operations face a long wait until things return to normal.
It would be a huge honour to represent Ermine and Cathedral division as a County Councillor. I will not make any promises I cannot keep, but I will promise that I will work hard, use my experience on the Covid frontline and in politics, and do my very best to help us all adjust to life after the pandemic.
