Calum Watt - Your Labour Candidate For Boultham Ward

A Bit About Me

I came to Lincoln as a student nearly a decade ago and quickly fell in love with the city, its history, its people and its culture.  Since then, I have worked for the local MP and more recently for healthcare workers during the pandemic as a support worker for UNISON.

I am a community activist, trade unionist and socialist. I believe in supporting communities to bring people together and organise in their own interests, to help people improve their lives and make the this City a better place to live for all.

My Priorities

A good local councillor should represent the community. I believe it is always important to stay in touch by attending and supporting local residents groups and holding static and walking surgeries, the dates of which are published in our regular calendars.

I have been an active participant in forming the Lincoln Renters Union which is seeking to improve housing quality in the City. I support the efforts of the City Council to provide more purpose-built student accommodation to ease pressure on local housing, and will argue passionately for the expansion of social housing for local people.

Putting Jobs First

I support the great work of the City Council in re-invigorating the local economy and bringing jobs to local people over recent years.  This competence is never more important than during the present public health crisis. It is vital that we protect jobs and support local shops and businesses, as well as looking to take advantage of the new opportunities we are presented with, to grow and diversify our local economy.

Standing Up For Boultham

As an alumni of the University, which happens to sit firmly within the boundaries of Boultham Ward, I would seek to forge closer links between it and the community, so that the wealth of knowledge it creates helps to create real wealth for the people of our City.

  • I would continue the important work of restoring and maintaining Boultham Park for the enjoyment of all.
  • The Council is moving forward with plans to introduce and expand residents parking in our area, I will make sure this is implemented to benefit of local residents.
  • I believe that a strong vote for Labour in these local elections is not only an endorsement of our work so far but also a vote for more as we recover from the pandemic

In this City election you will have opportunity to show that the residents of Boultham will be heard. A vote for Labour on the 6th May will be a vote for a Councillor willing to stand up for your interests.

For A Fairer, Better Future, Vote Labour on May 6th
