Last night Lincoln City Council Labour Group pledged its support to the Lincolnshire Health Visitors who are in dispute with their employer Lincolnshire County Council over not getting paid the rate for the job and the erosion of their professional responsibilities which could adversely impact vulnerable families.

Group members heard from local Health Visitors that the Tory controlled County Council hasn’t given them a pay rise since they transferred from the NHS to the County Council in 2017 and are trying to introduce a two tier structure that will deskill many of the Health Visitors.

Speaking to the Group, Health Visitors explained that the County Council would only give a pay rise if they transferred from their NHS terms and conditions onto significantly worse County Council terms.

In an unprecedented step the Lincolnshire Health Visitors have voted to take strike action with their first day of action on Monday 15 July. A protest rally will also be held outside the County Council Offices on 15 July at 9 am.
